We need your help!

We are looking for volunteers to help us pull Himalayan Balsam in Peasecroft Wood (behind Whitehouse Avenue) . Himalayan Balsam is an invasive species that spreads rapidly and forms dense monocultures that outcompete native plants for light, nutrients, and space. In view of this we need to keep on top of it in order to maintain our beautiful Ancient Woodland. If anyone has any spare time, even if it’s just half an hour to help with this, then please go ahead. Please pull (ideally the root will come out too) and leave on-site, as this plant should not be transported and should not be put in brown bins. The plant will then dry out, die and this will prevent it from seeding and spreading. The Himalayan Balsam starts to seed in late July so the more that we can remove before then the better! Many thanks in advance for your help.
